Temple of the Sun

I made my first 3d inchie house.I was inspired by Phizzychick on Craftster. Her papercrafts are amazing! She inspires me to try my hand at papercrafting. I made this little house to go in my curiosity cubby (shadowbox) in my dining room. It is made from heavy watercolor paper painted with watercolors. I used cut out peices of other watercolored paper for the door and windows. I used black and yellow gel pens to do the other accents and black ink to finish edges. I love the inked edge look. If you'd like to see the sides and back of my little house head on over to my flickr account.
On another note I'll be gone on vacation to Glacier National Park from the 26th-August 2nd. When I come home I'll have a ton of pictures to share!

I've gone sun hat crazy!

Batik Sun Hat

I made a photo tute for Craftster while making this one as well. These are so much fun to make! Instant gratification.

My Vintage Sunhat

My Vintage Sunhat
Originally uploaded by AlwaysInspired
I found this fabric at a yard sale. I just loved the pattern and the fact that it was vintage. I wasn't sure what it was going to be, but I bought it anyway. Today I planned on making a sun hat for my mother in law. We are heading to Glacier National Park in a few days to do a lot of hiking and outdoor activities. Her doctor suggested she wear sun hats because sun related skin damage runs in her family. She asked if I could make her a hat. I found some measurements online and made my own pattern. I figured it wouldn't hurt me to have one too! If you'd like to see my MIL's hat check out my flickr.

Nursing Blanket

Nursing Blanket

I made this simple flannel nursing blanket for the hippy swap. The applique was from my partner's wist. I thought it was great and wanted to use it in some way. I used wonder under and machine applique. I backed the blanket in unbleached muslin for a hippy feel. I really like how it turned out!

It was a lot of fun getting to meet someone that I see so frequently on Craftster. If you'd like to see my goodies swing on over to my flickr account. I look forward to Jamie coming back to my town so I can take her on a tour and show her our fabric shop. Fun day!

High Waisted Circle Skirt

I made my first circle skirt yesterday! I'm super happy with how it came out. I can wear it high waisted like this or lower on the hips with the shirt untucked. Either way it is pretty cute! I'm going to make more for sure!

Art On Your Feet

I taught my first official class at the art center that I'm on the board at. I taught shoe painting. The pic is the shoes from my first class of grades 1-3. It ended up being all girls! They had a blast painting their shoes. I also did a class of grades 4-8. A pic of their shoes is on my flickr. The older girls really took their time and came up with designs. The younger girls were more into color. I can't wait to teach my next class sometime this fall. It was so much fun sharing art with kids.

Happy Dentures: Chuck and Chester

I was asked by a friend to make a set of softie dentures for her hubby who is getting new teeth. This is what I came up with! They had to have faces and be fun! I didn't have a pattern. I just cut and stitched until I was happy. They are seperate so they can be played with. I thought it was fun and a fun way to celebrate something so strange! My friends celebrate everything! ;)

Napping in the Clover

Isn't she beautiful! I received her from my crafty soul sister Woodland_Faerie! I got her in return for Autumn. She amazing me more each time I look at her. I also got 2 holed stone necklaces, holed stone earrings, a real ivy leaf in resin pendant, a poly clay tree of life key chain, and a raven prayer flag. She even sent her inspiration drawing for the doll. I'm going to frame it to hang on the wall! If you'd like to see more pics of the Goddess Lady Wilde check out my flickr. Big hugs and thanks to Woodland_Faerie!

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 4th of July weekend. I started my day off by watching a wonderful documentary called Small Town Soldiers. It is about a group of World War 2 vets from my area. My husbands great Uncle is featured in the film. He passed before the film was made, but I know he'd have loved it. It was a moving and eye opening tribute to some very brave men. Uncle Johnny was a fighter pilot in the air force. He flew the Toddlin' Trollop in 19 missions before being grounded due to a heart problem. He was a fantastically funny man and his interview in the documentary shows just that. He brought a bit of humor to a very serious film. It was nice to see him chuckling. So let's all thank the brave men and women who have made this country so great! Happy Independence Day!
