WIP Sunday: Monday Again!

I'm still a bad bloggy friend!
Just a couple quick updates. My tooth is much, much better! No more pain and I finished my antibiotics today! I go in on Tuesday to have it checked and decide when it is going to be extracted.

Sadly I haven't gotten to work on anything crafty. It makes me irritable and sad. I haven't had a proper day off from work in almost a month. I get a few hours off here and there, but a whole day just for me is impossible at this time. I did sketch something out the other night and that was nice, but I'm not totally happy with it which is probably because of the mood I've been in.

So no photos of anything that is in progress. How depressing. I need to hide in a crafty hole for a few days and have fun making stuff! My goal was to have one embroidered panel done of the quilt I wanted to give Grama for her Birthday, but her Birthday is a week and a day away and I have yet to even transfer the pattern! Oh well! I'll show her the fabric and pattern and then work on it during my off time. She'll get it when I'm done and she will love it all the same.

Psssstttt...... My Birthday is a week from tomorrow! :)

Off to wallow in my non crafty pity party.

WIP Wednesday: For Crying Out Loud!

Ok, so I missed Sunday by a few days. Let's just say Sunday wasn't my day. I started feeling a bit of pain in a tooth on Sunday. I thought it was something that had snuck under my cap on the tooth. I flossed, no biggie right? Maybe a bit of a larger problem considering Monday I thought I was going to die! My 6 month dental cleaning and check up was scheduled for the 31st, but do you think my stupid teeth could wait until then! Of course not! I ended up laying in pain in the living room until 6 am Tuesday morning. The pain subsided and I got 3 hours of sleep before I had to head to work. I was able to get an emergency appointment at the dentist where I learned that the tooth must be pulled after the infection is gone! I got a healthy dose of antibiotics to take and have been dealing with facial swelling, sore throat, ear ache, and pain since. It is getting better today after taking several of the antibiotics, but it hasn't made me feel crafty either.

Enough of my boring life, I'm shooting to have dentures by the time I'm 30 folks. LOL (OK, not really, but some days it is tempting!)

I managed to make a pair of sweet little baby booties for a friend that has a baby girl due in August.
Baby Booties
I used a free pattern from www.homespun-threads.com.
They came out great and I'm sure I'll make more pairs for gifts.
I promise I will be a better crafty and bloggy friend.

Oh So Pretty!

I took my camera to work yesterday. One of the wonderful things of working surrounded by flowers is the beautiful photos you can take. I always pick a Sunday and take my camera to work, knowing that I'll have time to wander and take photos. I took lots yesterday and thought I would share a few. They turned out lovely!

I'll share my favorite three here, but if you'd like to see more of my flower photos from this year and past years you can frolic on over to my flickr page and check out my flower set.

I found this red strawflower with a heart center! I was so in love! I took lots of pictures and then set it aside to keep for myself. I'll plant it in a planter for the patio and when the flower is ready to be picked I'll dry it so I can keep it. I Love You

I love this flower! It is a mum blossom. The orange and red are two of my fave colors right now, especially in flowers.
Mum On Fire

The last one is a mandavilla flower. I just thought it was so stunning all open wide and stare shaped.
Blushing Star

I could post a ton more here, but I'll leave it at that and let you take a look if you'd like. I hope this brightens your day!

WIP Sunday: A Teaser

I joined the I heart the 80's swap on flickr only to find out that I had been paired with my bestie Digital Misfit! LOL She isn't crafting for me as it is a secret partner swap, but I am crafting for her. So sadly it isn't a secret, but I can keep the project a secret! I asked her some questions about what she wanted and settled on making her an art quilt wall hanging. I'm calling it "Soviet Union Propaganda Folk Art." She knows that much anyway.
Teaser for Digital Misfit!
I have a long ways to go, but the beginnings are making me happy! I have two hours before I have to go to work, so I think I'll go work more on the super secret propaganda quilt!

Heart Inside

I was out taking my first bare footed walk through the backyard when I happened to spy this little gem laying on the grass.
Heart Inside

I had to stop and take a picture. A red heart inside of a lacy shell. So fragile and beautiful.

WIP Sunday: Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all Mom's out there! Who ever you are a "Mom" to I'm sure you are super duper appreciated today!
In honor of Mother's Day I thought I'd share what I worked on last night. A baby quilt for an expecting Mother! A special couple is due in August and I couldn't resist making this quilt for them. The pattern is "I'm a Wiener Baby" from the book "Dare to be Square" by Boo Davis. (The same book the skully quilt was from.)
Weiner Dog Baby Quilt
Sorry for the sorta blurry photo, but the lighting is bad in my kitchen right now and holding the camera up high enough to get a photo made me shaky! The blocks are all done and in need of sewing together and then I have a top and bottom border of the green to attach! I think I'll get to take it to the quilter at the same time I take the Slice and Dice quilt there! How exciting!
I even have enough fabric I could make another puppy only buying some cotton for the background! Best part about it, it only took me 2 hours to sew up all the blocks!
So all you Mom's out there, sit back, relax, and enjoy your day!

Slice and Dice Top

I finished up my Slice and Dice quilt top! It would have been done sooner if not for the power outage! All finished up and ready to go to the quilter. This will be a Christmas gift for my mother in law. I sure hope she likes it. I have so many ideas to try with this pattern, including changing it just a bit. I'll have to try a test block and see what happens.
Slice and Dice
The batiks are all Kauffman fabrics. They flow together so nicely. I think I'm going to have it heavily quilted in a random squiggle. I think the thick quilting will really be pretty against the fabrics. On the plus side, having it ready so early means I can bind until Christmas!

Gossamer

During the power outage I started doing some sketching. I don't do it often, but lately I've had the urge. I call her Gossamer. Covered in cob webs and holding a tiny spider egg with hopes for a new friend.

I'm Back!

Wow! What a weekend! On Friday night at around 2am the power went out as a huge storm rolled in. We had tons of rain which turned to snow and caused a lot of issues with power lines and phone lines. We sat without power for the entire day Saturday and Sunday. We headed to the in laws on Saturday since they have a gas stove and were able to cook a hot meal. We had lunch with them and then tried to venture home, but a pickup was stuck cross ways in our street and we couldn't get to our house! The Hubby took me back to the in laws and drove home, parked a block away and walked in to the house to change for work. We ended up having a sleep over at the in laws that night. We made it home Sunday and sat without power again. It was cold, but I stayed warm under my pile of quilts. We did loose a fish from our fish tank from the drop in water temp and lack of air circulation. Oh, and the entire time phones and cell phones were working hit or miss so communication was terrible! Other than that we did ok. I read tons and started sketching in my sketch book!
April 30th!
I had a vid of us driving, but I can't get it to upload. Fairly boring, just this and me trying to narrate and not sound like an idiot. LOL You get the picture! We're all ok now with power and feeling much better. There is still snow on the ground and hopefully it melts soon.
I'll share my sketches from the power outage tomorrow! So glad to be back!
