Being An Artist

I've been thinking about what it means to be an artist. I consider myself an artist. I always have. I've never really cared if other people saw me as an artist. I'm proud of my work. Art isn't a technical thing. Art is from the soul and heart. I may not have attended art school or have my art displayed in galleries around the world, but it is art. Each thing that I create is an expression of my heart. I think that is why swapping is so appealing to me. I'm giving away a bit of my soul in return for a bit of someone else's. I treasure each and every thing made by someone else's hands. I equate love with creation. In a sense I'm giving love with each stitch, brush stroke, or dot of glue. It is so satisfying when I receive a compliment on something I'm wearing or the art in my home and I can explain that someone I've never met adored my art enough to gift me a piece of their art in return for something I created. I'm so proud that things I have made are loved and treasured around the world. That is better than exhibiting in all the galleries in the universe.
We are all artists in our own ways. Appreciate the gifts you create from the soul and enjoy gifting them away in exchange for loving smiles, warm hugs, or little bits of fellow artists' souls

Your art will always be proudly displayed in my home. You are amazingly talented in so many different mediums and always a source of inspiration.
HUGS to one of my favorite ARTISTS!

This makes me smile. ^-^

So often people sell themselves short because they don't feel like they've "made it yet" or they're not a "real" artist... I was having a conversation with someone I work with this morning about people as artists. He claimed to not have an artistic bone in his body. I told him that he was full of it, everyone is creative, he just hadn't found his medium yet. He stared at me like I'd just grown another head...

We're all creative in our own ways. Thank you for celebrating this. ^-^

I love this post <3 I've always considered myself an artist, too. I didn't think I could be anymore psyched about swapping with you. But, after reading this post I am even more excited :)

Thanks everyone so much. Sometimes things sorta pour out and I felt compelled to express it. I'm glad it makes everyone smile. Now go out and create!

Totally agree with every word :) I went to art school... it's over rated and everyone takes themselves too seriosuly. They should make art students swap so that they can truly understand the connection that can be formed by creating something, not only for the joy of creation, but to share that joy with someone else.
